Excitement is brewing in Calgary as the city’s own soccer team, the Calgary Cavalry FC, prepares for a historic CONCACAF Champions Cup debut against Orlando City SC. The anticipation is palpable, and fans across the city are gearing up for an unforgettable match.
The Cavalry will be taking the field in Vancouver Island instead of their home turf. Unpredictable weather conditions in February made it impractical to host the game in Calgary, forcing the team to relocate. Despite this hurdle, the players are ready to give it their all and make a mark in their inaugural Champions Cup appearance.
For those eager to soak in the atmosphere and cheer on the Cavalry, several watch parties are planned throughout the city. Kildares Ale House is set to host a vibrant gathering, creating a community atmosphere where fans can share the highs and lows of the game. I will be hitting up the Ship And Anchor after work to soak in the game, jersey on, Guinness in hand. I hope to see you there. Calgary may love it’s hockey, but I truly believe this city is a ‘soccer city’ – Need proof? Just come watch the game at one of the viewing parties tonight! I am sure the Foot Soldiers would love to have you!
