In Fountain Inn, South Carolina, a couple decided to take Halloween décor to blazing new heights — literally. Amanda and her husband Sam decked out their home with smoke machines, dramatic lighting, and effects so vivid that people passing by, thought the place was legit on fire. So of course, a few concerned neighbours dialed 911 before realizing the only thing burning was creative flair.
As word spread (and a TikTok video racked up tens of millions of views), the fire department found themselves on standby—not for real fires, but for people stunned by the Halloween spectacle. The local fire chief admitted they can’t just ignore the calls, so they still dispatch trucks when someone reports a fire, even if they’ve been warned in advance. Meanwhile, the couple has preemptively pleaded with the public: “No, it’s not on fire — it’s just Halloween.”
Of course, not everyone is a fan. While many residents praise the elaborate display, a few critics grumble there’s never a good time to stage a fake conflagration in your yard. Still, the household only ramps up the performance from 8–10 PM nightly leading up to October 31. Oh — and to sweeten the neighbourhood vibes, they always fill a coffin full of candy and host a pumpkin patch for the community.
